UMARIX AI PHOTO EDITOR

๐ŸŒซ๏ธ Background Blur

Blur a photo in your browser. In background-only mode the AI engine first isolates the subject (the same one-time engine download as the Background Remover), then the background is blurred and the sharp subject is placed back on top. In whole-image mode no download is needed and everything is blurred.

Runs entirely in your browser. No upload, no account, no image stored anywhere. Unlimited uses, within the per-file limits below.

JPEG, PNG, WebP only. Max 20.00 MB per file, 100 megapixels. One file at a time. Files are processed in your browser only โ€” nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Upload an image (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MB and 100 megapixels) or try the clearly marked sample image.
  2. Choose "Background only" to keep the subject sharp, or "Whole image" to blur everything without a download.
  3. Set the blur strength with the slider, then press the blur button. For background-only mode, press Start in the plain-English box that explains the one-time AI engine download.
  4. Compare the result with the original, then download it. Use Start over for a new image.

Supported formats and limitations

  • Background-only mode depends on the same segmentation as the Background Remover: hair, fur, glass and fine edges may be imperfect, and small speckles can remain in plain backgrounds with the small model.
  • The blurred background is a blur of the original photo, not a new scene. It does not remove objects or people from the background.
  • Animation is not preserved: only the first frame of an animated WebP is processed.
  • The output is a PNG. Converting to JPEG would discard transparency, which is not needed here because the blurred result is opaque.
  • Limits: 20 MB per file, 100 megapixels. Unlimited uses, one file at a time, within those per-file limits.

Frequently asked questions

Why does background-only mode need a download?

It first has to isolate the subject, which uses the same AI engine as the Background Remover. That engine downloads once (about 40 MB), is saved in your browser, and is reused afterwards.

Can I blur without any download?

Yes โ€” choose "Whole image" mode. It blurs everything, including the subject, and needs no download.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. All processing runs in your browser. No image leaves your device.

What is the size limit?

20 MB per file and 100 megapixels. There is no limit on the number of images you may process, one at a time, within those per-file limits.
